Checking Camps

Contact Development CC-01
Body Checking Camps

A 3-day body-checking camp where players learn to give a hit — and take one — safely and with confidence. Body checking is a skill, and like any skill it has to be taught the right way: a deliberate walk → jog → game-speed progression where nobody gets thrown into the deep end.

Learn to hit the right way.

Common questions

My player has never body checked — is this for them?
Absolutely. The camp is built for all experience levels. We start with the basics and progress at a controlled pace, and players are grouped by size and skill so first-timers are never overmatched. Day 1 is all about protecting yourself before anyone learns to deliver a check.
Is body checking safe?
Player safety is our top priority — checking is taught as a skill in a controlled, supervised progression with size-matched partners and USA Hockey rules enforced. As with any contact activity there is an inherent risk of injury, so full equipment and a mouthguard are mandatory.
What ages / birth years can attend?
12U through 16U — birth years 2010–2014. This is the window where checking becomes part of the game (legal at 14U), ideal for first-season checkers and experienced players alike.
What equipment is required?
Full hockey equipment including a mouthguard: helmet with cage or shield, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, pants, shin guards, skates, and a stick. Bring a water bottle and arrive 20–30 minutes early.
What is the refund policy?
14+ days before: full refund, less a $25 processing fee. 7–13 days before: 50% refund or 100% credit toward a future program. Within 7 days: no refund or credit. Injury/medical: prorated credit with a doctor's note. If we cancel a session, you'll get a full credit or refund for it.
